Practice listening while listening to your favourite songs

Find it so boring listening to those BBC news recommended by your English teacher? Actually there is another way which is even better than ever:)

What is LyricsTraining?

LyricsTraining is an easy and fun method to learn and improve your foreign languages skills through the music videos and lyrics of your favorite songs.
     For example, one famous song with R&B style from Eminem Ft. Rihanna -
     Love The Way You Lie 

How to use it? 

Write the song lyrics while listening the music:

•  before you start, you can choose the level.

•  To continue playing you must complete each line.
•  To listen again the last line, press backspace key.
•  If you can't understand a word, press tab key to jump to the next.
•  Don't write spaces neither any special character.

 

 

•   Finally you can even get your name on board if you did a good job

Learning chocolate---one vocabulary learning platform

Vocabulary is always of great importance in English language learning. However most students feel it boring and difficult to remember all these new words. Today I want to introduce one useful website named "Learning chocolate", which makes learning vocabulary easy peasy:)

What is this?
This website provides lots of interesting vocabulary exercises for learners to practice. There are different categories of vocabulary, such as animals, body, food, etc. So learners can aquire specific vocabulary according to their interest.

Why it is good?
There are several advanteges of this website.
1. This website is colourful with plenty of pictures to demoonstrate the "vocabulary". It makes vocabulary learning more fun, especially for young learners.

What can TED do to help teach or learn English

Today I want to share with you a very useful website http://www.ted.com/

 

Like Youtube, TED is a viedo sharing website. However Ted is more professional in riveting talks by remarkable people, and it is totally free to the world. You can browse the content by several ways, for example:

 There are several advantages to use Ted for English learning.

1.The ideas shared are very advanced and meaningful. This can help students generate ideas while writing and cultivate their critical thinking.

 

2.You can choose subtitles while watching the videos on Ted, as shown in the pic below.

Here there are 53 kinds of languages that you can choose, including Chinese.

In the case of myself, I usually practice my listening ability with TED. To be more specific, for the first time I usually watch this speech without subtile, and the second time with English subtitle to check those meanings that I have missed, the third time with Chinese subtitle to fully understand the content.

 

3.There is also one amazing function of Ted. On the right side of almost every speech, you may find the transcript of the speech in different languages. Meanwhile, you can also click any phrase to play the video at that point. You can practice your oral English by simply clicking and repeating. Or you may also listen to one specific sentence of the speech several times to practice your listening.
